My journey through pregnancy

About 28 weeks ago my husband and I found out that we were expecting a baby. This all went from scary to exciting to terrifying.

Actually having a kid was not so much the terrifying part, rather getting the baby out of my belly and into our home was causing me major anxiety. We were both on the same page in that we new we wanted to know the gender (it's a girl) and we easily picked a name (Mya Jane Galler). My husband, bless his heart, likes to sit back and let me decide what I want to do in regards to decorating the home, planing our wedding and it turns out, having a kid. At first I thought this was great, no arguments to be had. I have a good friend who is a labour and delivery nurse and going to be my second in the room helping out from the first contractions in our home, all the way through to the birth in the hospital.

The problem with this, is I quickly came to realize that I am surrounded by negative birth stories involving inevitable pain and acceptance, epidurals, delayed labours etc. These stories eventually created an emotional and paralysing fear about giving birth.

Hence my googling and now journey into hypnobirthing. My parter/husband has been supporting and loving and listened to my ups and downs. As a result he is becoming involved and learning about the process and fully embracing the possibility of hypnobirthing.

Now that I have started to learn about it I can slowly feel the fear disappearing and the excitement about Mya gradually growing. I'm happy that I'll have him by my side to be an advocate and a supporter of my desire for a calm, pain free, natural birth and I'm excited to meet our baby girl.

I hope to share our experiences as I learn more about the relaxation techniques and we begin classes. Also on how I manage to deal with the sceptics, and let me tell you, the only one who's not, is my husband.

Welcome!

Hi everyone,
So I'm just starting out here. After being new to twitter I would now like to expand and blog a little. I'll include updates about planing weddings, life events, expand on big twitter new, and generally keep things updated. My spelling leaves nothing to be desired, but I'll pay attention.
I'm currently a psych student looking to get my PhD. I have a degree in international relations, and a certificate in event management, and I currently work at the CostumeChik.
Hope to hear from you all!
